I don’t know that there’s a specific template recommended for scanning them, but you do want to avoid using web spidering in their scans so it doesn’t cause any disruptions. It also helps to have a site or asset group for them so they’re not accidentally included in another scan that may have web spidering.

Thank You !!

Hey @endlessknot

Do you have a template now for scanning printers?

The support gave me the information, that you cant’t use authorized scans at printers.

Maybe you could help me out?

Thank you very much

Do you mean authenticated Scan templates or authentication in general, there is no specific template thats best for a printer, other than you may need to or want to specifically exclude certain ports for certain printers such as excluding LPD port on TCP/515 etc…

Tank you for your answer!

I mean that you can use SNMP credentials only for fingerprinting.

However, InsightVM do not have a comprehensive coverage for printers in context of vulnerabilities. So from my point of view, I’m a little bit disappointed.

I wonder what type of vulnerability information you guys found in relation of printers?

I found, when scanning printers, that I had to exclude ports 9100-9114,9400 for TCP and UDP to avoid the printers printing several pages of nonsense characters.
