I need to know how can we calculate or know the performance impact of a scan running in a network. Is there a guide of some kind to calculate it.
My concern is the impact on network and not on InsightVM engine.
For the most part the network impact is caused by the Nmap or discovery portion of the scan. We can determine the impact based on the Min-PPS or min-rate option. By default it is set to 2000 PPS, or 2000 packets per second. With a packet having an average MTU of about 1500, we can multiply them together and see that the scan should run around 3 Mbps by default.
