Has anyone been able to successfully migrate or build a network sensor on Nutanix hypervisor?
We have a few sensors running on Nutanix, although I didn’t set them up and have little information on them, but i might be able to help depending on your next question? ![]()
How!?!?!?!?!? LOL I have (5) network sensors currently being hosted on VMWare which we are moving away from and onto Nutanix AHV.
Short answer yes. If you mean by using a SPAN or TAP port, we didn’t even bother. It requires a dedicated NIC, in which you would also need to enforce host affinity. We ended up using ERSPAN.
They were set up by someone that has since left the company, but they would have been built straight onto Nutanix and not migrated. They’re running on an underlying Linux system- I assume he just followed the instructions, but that just now sounds like I’m being sarcastic! The fact you’re asking is now making me slightly nervous about ours.
R7 support says that do not “officially” support AHV and they heard “some” customers were able to get it to work. We made the decision not to migrate and just build new network sensors on AHV and go from there. Ill report back our findings.
any update on this? we’re in the same boat. had it working great and then did a software patch on nutanix and broke it. for the life of us, we can’t figure out how we got it working in the first place. nutanix and r7 support aren’t able to provide any info.
