Memory allocation scan engine

We have a scan engine in Azure and on a VMWare stack. Both provided by Rapid7 (Azure marketplace/VMWare template). Both run on Ubuntu, have 8 GB mem and 4 cpu’s. However, if I issue the ‘free’ command from the CLI I see a big difference,
Azure:
total used free
Mem: 8130056 5818644 158988

VMWare:
total used free
Mem: 8093504 3228092 2735912

Can anyone explain why this is. I’m not aware of a setting that can influence the memory allocation on an engine.

have you tried the command “Tune Assistant Calculate”?

Hi Brandon,
The way I understand that command is that it’s meant for the console. I’m talking about two distributed scan engines here.
