Currently when I join agent to rapid7 it takes hostname of the virtual machine but as we have many VM with similar host names it is not so helpful.
For example I see several agents named “prod” and I can’t recognize which prod it means. How we can control agent name is there a configuration file where I can put this as configuration ?

The Insight Agent pulls the name directly from the hostname file. The best solution would be to rename the assets in question.
It would be very useful to be able to override this in the web UI. For our endpoint workstations, many or BYOD and so users have set up their own… ‘interesting’ hostrnames. Being able to override these with something more meaningful would be helpful.
