Maybe I am misunderstanding the specific use case here, but you actually can set a specific time limit for a scan on assets. Now, you will not be able to do this for a specific asset, rather this time limit will apply to every individual asset that is scanned. Please see the documentation below from R7. Would this not satisfy this request? Basically, the scan will drop a troublesome asset after lets say 1 hour. We have implemented this and it works.

This is actually a good alternative and exactly what I am looking for. It’s a bit of a hassle to implement this on my 30+ scan engines, but with Ansible, it should be deployed relatively quickly.
